The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) is a nonprofit organization that has three main membership types. All TAWA memberships run from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, no matter what date an individual or manufacturer joins.
Active (journalist) membership is for media members who cover autos, the automotive industry, safety, technology, motorsports and lifestyles. Qualified members are news professionals or freelancers (read more). New applicants must be sponsored by at least two current TAWA members. Once approved, new journalist members pay $75 application fee plus the $75 annual dues. Current journalist members must qualify annually.
Associate members are involved with the auto industry in a non-editorial capacity. They include advertising and public relations, automotive aftermarket, market research, governmental, safety communications and fleet management personnel. Associate membership annual dues are $250 per person.
Manufacturer membership is reserved for those employed by an automobile manufacturer or who are acting on the behalf of the manufacturer by representing the manufacturer much as am employee would. An annual fee of $250 entitles each automaker to a primary representative who can add product-line contacts.
Individual manufacturer applications should go through the appropriate bundle administrator for the company.
