TAWA’s annual Texas Auto Roundup is an all-new event for 2017 being held, for the first time ever, at Austin's Circuit of The Americas, the first purpose-built Formula 1™ racing facility in the United States. Not only is the venue new for 2017, the event overlaps the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship's 2017 Advance Auto Parts Sportscar Showdown race weekend.
The Texas Auto Roundup will be held May 6-8, 2017. Members will arrive Saturday May 6th for the IMSA race day followed by a TAWA Welcome Dinner reception that evening. Sunday May 7th, drivers will evaluate the latest vehicles from manufacturers on the first purpose-built Formula 1™ facility in the United States. Following a full day on track, participants will enjoy true Texas hospitality, in a uniquely Austin style, before returning to COTA Monday morning, May 8th, for a half-day of driving, evaluation, a lunch time education session and the resulting awards announcement.
There will be NO EMBARGO on the awards announcement. We encourage live streaming, social media coverage as the announcements are made. News outlets who want to report the results are encouraged to attend and report from the awards presentation the afternoon of Monday, May 8th.
Circuit of The Americas is a world-class destination for premium sports and entertainment and the home of the FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX, MotoGP™ Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the IMSA SportsCar Championship and Pirelli World Challenge motorsports events.
Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) is proud to announce The Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI) as the 2017 Title Sponsor of Events. SMDI, now in their fourth-year of support of TAWA, will double their presence in Texas as the Title Sponsor of both The 2017 Texas Auto Roundup at The Circuit of The Americas™ and the 2017 Texas Truck Rodeo. We are thankful for SMDI’s continued support and increased commitment to our organization and look forward to welcoming them to our 2017 Texas Auto Roundup.

IMSA & COTA CREDENTIALS
Please note that this does not extend to manufacturer or sponsor members.
COTA informed us that only our journalist members are eligible for the media credentials and parking pass for the race.
All TAWA members will be able to access our welcome dinner in Paddock Club 201 after 5 p.m. Saturday without needing an IMSA ticket or parking pass. Before 5 p.m. Saturday, though, access and parking will be limited to IMSA ticket or pass holders.
Attached is a map to COTA's Media Accreditation Center (MAC) in Lot R. Before being able to park or get into the paddock, media will need to visit the MAC to pick up their credentials. All media will need to present a photo ID in order to pick up their credentials at the MAC.
Also note that the IMSA press accreditation is in addition to the TAWA Auto Roundup registration. TAWA will have our own registration process just like any other TAWA event.
