Biography
I led the formation of the Texas Automotive Writers Association in the late 1980's, and served as the group's first president from 1989-1990 while serving as the Automotive Editor at the now-defunct Houston Post, where I served for 10 years.
Following my tenure there, I worked at Mel Anderson Communication, where we formed Anderson-Hubbard AutoMotive, to serve the PR and advertising needs of automotive industry clients in Houston. Top clients included Ferrari of Houston and Hi-LO Auto Supply, now pat of O'Reilley Auto Parts.
In 1995 I launched my freelance writing and editing service, Automotive Ink, and moved the business to the Chicago area 1996, serving a variety of corporate and media clients.
In 1999 I moved to Wisconsin to become editor or a truck and SUV accessory trade magazine. I served in that post until 2002, when I re-launched Automotive Ink.
I have had a rewarding and diversified media career that has spanned more than 30 years, I am currently working with pickuptrucks.com as a contributing editor and Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 track in Houston as a freelance media relations consultant.
My range of journalistic experiences include everything from writing and editing, marketing communications and public relations, editorial direction and custom publishing … to being a radio talk show co-host, media relations project manager and advertising account executive.
I have worked for book, magazine and newspaper publishers, as well as PR firms and radio stations. On a freelance or contract basi, I have launched custom publishing projects, managed a major online automotive news web site, authored over 1000 car and truck reviews and written hundreds of newspaper columns, magazine articles and web stories.
