Founded in 1985, the Texas Auto Writers Association has grown to become one of the most recognized and reputable automotive press organizations in the industry. TAWA’s mission is to promote quality and accuracy in automotive journalism and to disseminate information about the automotive industry through news-related print, online and broadcast media. On behalf of its Journalist, Manufacturer and Associate members, TAWA strives to create channels between companies and individuals within the industry who might not have otherwise connected, thus empowering the individual journalist members while promoting reader, viewer and listener awareness of the automotive industry.

The Association seeks to increase the number of information sources for its members through the exchange of resource information among members and similar organizations around the country. In addition to promoting journalism opportunities and professionalism internally, TAWA funds scholarships to journalism students.

Every fall for more than 35 years TAWA takes a look at the latest vehicles in the ultimate contest for the "Truck of Texas" and "Utility Vehicles of Texas".
In addition to the Texas Auto Roundup and the Texas Truck Rodeo, we acknowledge the outstanding work of our members with an Excellence in Craft Competition.
